Obituary

Reed Plantation – Walter A. Richardson, 74, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 12, 2021 at a Bangor hospital. He was born January 25, 1947 in Washburn, the son of Albion and Mildred (McEachearn) Richardson.

Walter was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. Walter was an amazing Husband, Dad, “Banky”, Grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be remembered as a hard working man, who was kind and caring to his community, and very generous. Walter was always finding ways to earn extra money, from cutting and selling wood, fiddleheading, working at the wreath shop in Wytopitlock, and working at the butcher shop. He loved to go jacking, and spent many happy hours fishing in the local bodies of water. Walter will be lovingly missed and fondly remembered as a friend to all.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Muriel (Voisine) Richardson; three daughters, Mari Kay Walter and her life partner Richard Witherall, Crystal Austin and her husband Steve, and Joni Clark and her husband Brent; ten grandchildren, Diana Rogers, David J. Walter, Kirk Walter, Alexis “Lexie Bendie” Austin, MacKenzie “Kenzie Enzie” Austin, Shawn “Mr. Tuttle” Stewart, Dakota”Mr. Pickle” Clark, Robin Clark, Brendon Clark, and Brooklyn Clark; two great grandchildren, James Rogers and Dexter Walter; siblings, Wallace Richardson, Judy Stevens, and Glen Richardson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by his step father, Phil Toby, and siblings, Joyce Smith, Doug Richardson, Diane Paige, and Eleanor Strout.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday, April 15 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday, April 16 with the Rev. Duane Waite officiating. Spring interment will be at the Reed Plantation Cemetery. Pandemic guidelines will be observed for the services, including mask wearing and social distancing. Funeral services will be livestreamed, and messages of condolence expressed, at www.lamsonfh.com.
