Obituary for Winnifred M. Gagnier

Millinocket – Winnifred M. Gagnier, 95, wife of the late Eldon “Put” Gagnier, Sr., passed away Thursday evening, November 3, 2022. She was born July 28, 1927 in Millinocket, the daughter of Guy and Orrisey (Powers) DiCentes.

Winnifred grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1944. She was a member of the Emblem Club at the Millinocket Elks Lodge, and was a faithful communicant of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours, where she was a member of the Little Flower Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. After raising her three children, Winnifred worked as a secretary at the Millinocket Water Company and enjoyed camping at Sourdehunk with her husband. She also enjoyed knitting and making crafts. Winnifred will be remembered as an awesome cook by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Winnifed was predeceased by siblings Margaret Hikel, Guy DiCentes, Jr., Edward DiCentes, and Carol Holt.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Katahdin Health Care for the kind, compassionate care given to Winnifred and the courtesies extended to the family, with particular appreciation to Tina, who went above and beyond.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Tuesday, November 8 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket with the Rev, Dominic Savio, pastor, presider. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket. Messages of condolence may be expressed at Winnifred’s Book of Memories at www.lamsonfh.com.
