Obituary for Winnifred L. Brooks

Lincoln – Winnifred L. Brooks, 91, wife of the late Robert “Bobby” Brooks, died Friday, December 17, 2021 at a Brewer health care facility. She was born December 11, 1930 in Lincoln, the youngest child of Arthur G. and Edna I. (Delano) Lancaster.
Winnifred grew up in Lincoln and was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy. Winnifred and Bobby owned Candyland on Main Street in Lincoln for over a decade, where they met many friends – young and old.
Winnifred is survived by two daughters, Wanda McLaughlin of Chester, and Janice Brooks-Calhoun of Orrington; three grandchildren, Jill McLaughlin of Hampden, Julie Peters and her husband, Derek of Rochester, NH, and Micheal McLaughlin of Lincoln; three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Owen, and Benjamin Peters of Rochester, NH; wonderful neighbors, Gary and Gilda LaChance, Josephine Loupin, and Reggie Drinkwater, all of South Lincoln; a special cousin, Alice Brooks of Saco, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband Robert, with whom she shared over 70 years, Winnifred was predeceased by two sisters, Clarissa Lancaster, and Martha Cole, and two brothers, Louis and Harry Lancaster, and a special nephew, Dougie Cole.
Graveside services will be held in the springtime at the South Lincoln Cemetery.
