Obituary for Virgil E. Cole

Medway – Virgil E. Cole, 71, passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at his home. He was born June 20, 1947 in Medway, the son of Benjamin W. and Rebecca M. (York) Cole.
Virgil grew up in Medway, and was a graduate of Schenck High School. After high school he served in the Air Force for four years. Virgil was a machinist at the Great Northern Paper Mill in East Millinocket for 22 years. He was an avid hunting and fishing enthusiast. Virgil also enjoyed travelling, having made several trips to Las Vegas and also to Newfoundland, and enjoyed gambling.
In addition to his mother, Virgil is survived by his siblings, Greg Cole and his wife Megan of Millinocket, Tim Cole and his wife Katie, Sara Cole, all of Medway; his partner of 42 years, Julia McLellan of East Millinocket; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held 11 A.M. Friday, June 7 at the Grindstone Road Cemetery, Medway, with Rev. Kendall Sperrey officiating. Gifts in memory of Virgil may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.Box15829, Arlington, VA 22215. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
