Obituary for Viola M. Cram

Print
Medway - On November 2nd, Viola "Gram" Cram went along to catch up to friends and family who've gone before, to a Heavenly reunion for the ages.
She was predeceased by many, chief of whom were her husband, Carl O. Cram, and two of her four sons, Phillip and Andy. She is survived by multitudes as well, including her sons Stephen and Robert, their wives Charlene and Janet, and Phillip's widow, Linda (Haney) Cram. In addition, she left behind a slew of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren - all of whom roughly equal the population of Rhode Island!
Born Viola May Davis on November 14th, 1922 in Hersey, Maine to Ola (Grant) and Lowell Davis, she graduated from Medway High School in 1940. She married Carl on October 12th, 1946, and eventually gave birth to their four sons. She lead a full life, with many careers ranging from live-in maid and nanny, to assembling ships for the war effort in Boston during WWII.
A devoted wife and mother, she was a woman of faith, unwavering commitment to family, and one of the best cooks any of us have ever known. It was this latter skill that lead to her cooking for Kronholm's Family Restaurant in Medway for many years. More than a few well-fed eyes shed tears the day she retired!

To anyone who knew her, Viola was a lovely friend and upstanding member of her community. For us, Gram was the sun to our planets; a constant source of light and love that never wavered. Though our orbits may have taken us away from time to time, the brilliance Gram shone has always given us guidance and strength. Now, from her most-ultimate of vantage points, she will continue to shepherd our lives through the lessons she's passed along. Those of family, faith, service, and the power of a good yeast roll. That, and how to lose graciously at Yahtzee.
Services will be held in the spring of 2019 at Grindstone Cemetery in Medway. Donations in Viola's name can be made to Katahdin Health Care LLC, 22 Walnut St, Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
