Howland – Victor S. T. Butts, 57, died Monday, January 7, 2019. He went peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer with his wife by his side. Victor was born May 7, 1961 in Portland, the son of Harold T. and Lorraine A. (Creamer) Butts.

Victor loved spending time with his family. He especially loved 4-wheeling and followed football avidly. He enjoyed many years hunting and trips to the cabin with his family, among many other trips and vacations, and also coached his son’s football team for a few years. Spending time with and providing for his family was his main focus in life. He worked hard to be non judgmental and to make and keep people happy.

In addition to his parents, Victor is survived by his wife of 39 years, though they were married for only the last 17, Wanda J. (Gleason) Butts of Howland; two children, Victor S. Butts and Melissa Sylvestre, and Niaomi J. Butts; two grandchildren, Joshua Kyle Butts and Gabriella Marie Butts; two sisters, Cindy Fox and her husband Mike, and Crystal Butts Ducharme and her husband; two brothers, Harry Butts and his wife Laurie, and Virgil “Sonny” Butts and his wife Annie; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, January 11 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, with the Rev. Harold Higgins officiating. Gifts in memory of Victor may be sent to the Lafayette Center, ATTN: Deanna Thurston, 33 Whiting Hill Road, Brewer, ME 04412; or to Northern Lights Homecare and Hospice Services 50 Foden Road, South Portland, ME 04106.

I met Butsy and worked with him for only a few years, but those who knew him know that you didn't need to know him long to become a good friend. We had some great times together, he was my best man at my wedding, but we kind of lost track when he and Wanda moved to Howland. He was one of those people you are always greatful for having in your life. My deepest sympathy to Wanda, Naomi and Victor, as well as the rest of your family. He was a terrific man and will be remembered always.
