Obituary for Verna Cleo Davis (McNally)

Millinocket – Verna Cleo (McNally) Davis, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 12, 2019. She will join in heaven her beloved husband of 67 years, Harold, and her three sons, Billy, Cris, and Randy. Verna was born October 29, 1931 in Patten to Fred and Minnie (Curtis) McNally. She was one of nine children, and was a long time resident of Millinocket.
Verna is survived by three of her children, Deborah Chesson and her husband Wayne, Harold “Johnny” Davis, Jr. and his wife Rose Ann, and Francine Manzo and her husband Eugene “Tony”. She is loved by ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband and three sons, Verna was predeceased by all her siblings.
Verna was a full time stay at home mom who raised six children. She spent many days during the summer at camp, first at Smith Pond and then at Ambajejus Lake, much of the time surrounded by family. Verna was an avid bowler and a member of the local bowling league for many years. She enjoyed knitting, making countless mittens, socks, sweaters, and dishcloths. Every winter her children and grandchildren would never go without a pair (or two) of her homemade mittens that matched their jacket. Verna loved to read, play cards, and spend time with her family.
Graveside services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, October 19 at the Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Verna may be sent to CHCS Hospice, 313 Enfield Road, Lincoln, ME 04457. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
