Obituary

Webster Plantation – Theo Emma (Dill) Jipson was born on December 1, 1928 and passed away peacefully on October 6, 2019. Theo was born in Springfield, the daughter of Robert Leander and Flossie Anna (Staples) Dill and attended schools in Lincoln and Springfield.

Theo lived a full life with her husband, P. Hazen Jipson, Sr. They shared 67 years together, raising their family on the farm in Webster Plt. before he passed away on December 27, 2014. During Theo’s life she served as tax collector for the town of Webster Plt. for 28 years, and also served as Town Treasurer there for 41 years. She also served on the board of directors for Penobscot Valley Hospital and was on the school board for SAD 30. All the while she was raising her family of seven children, and working a full time job for Penquis CAP. Theo loved her job and she met so many people through her work. She passed out a lot of cheese in her time through the Donated cheese program. Everyone remembers the cheese! She loved helping people with the fuel assistance program as well. She traveled a lot of miles helping clients with their fuel assistance applications. She did a lot of good in her life. On Saturday mornings you would find her in the kitchen. She would put the beans in to cook and make home made yeast rolls, pie for father, and chocolate cake for the kids. And in between she may have someone stop in to pay their taxes or get a vehicle registered. She didn’t mind at all – it was all in a day’s work for her.

In addition to her husband, Theo was predeceased by a daughter, AnnaLee Scribner in 2004, her siblings, Chandler, Merle, Dean, Vinal, Pauline, Irene, June, Thelma, Marion, George, Ruby, Roger, Robert, and Judy. Theo is survived by six children, Bonita and her husband Kenneth Whiting, Susan and her husband Dennis Irish, Annette (“Nicky”) and her husband Francis Jandreau, Hazen Jipson, Jr, and his wife Robin, Brian Jipson and his wife Karyl, and BettyLynne Herschel,, a sister, Bernice (“Bunny”) Gordon; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law, cousins, and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-8 PM Friday, October 19 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Private interment will be at the Jipson Family Cemetery in Webster Plantation. Gifts in memory of Theo may be sent to the Activities Fund at Colonial Health Care, 36 Workman Terrace, Lincoln, ME 04457, or to the charity of one’s choice.

So sorry to hear of Theo's passing! So many memories of Webster Plt. and growing up with this wonderful family. (The Thompson Girls loved sitting with the Jipson Girls on that cramped Webster Plt. school bus!!!) It was wonderful to get reacquainted again with Theo at Colonial Health Care. She was always a bright spot there. She was always so cheerful and fun whenever I saw her. Loved how she made others feel good and always had a laugh or a smile for me when I came to visit her. She will be greatly missed. God bless you all and know I am praying for you all as you go through this difficult time. She loved you all.

So many wonderful memories of time spent with AnnaLee and her mom and family during our high school days. Their home was always a welcoming spot for all of us who came and went through the years. It wasn’t till I was grown up that I realized that AnnaLee and I shared an aunt together. I’m thinking of you as you say your goodbyes and share your memories together. A special spot in my heart is reserved for the closeness we shared in the days of yore. Roberta (Gordon) Priest
