Obituary for Terrence Daigle

Terrence M Daigle Sr., 78, of Millinocket, passed away at Katahdin Health Care on July 15, 2019

Born in Millinocket November 15, 1940 to Joseph and Laura (Barnett) Daigle, he graduated from St. Martins High School in 1958 and St. Francis Xavier in 1962 with a degree in English, he also earned his Master’s in Education in 1969 from the University of Maine. He received a Certificate of Advanced Study in the area of Superintendency from The University of Maine in 1975. Terry was recognized by the Maine house and Senate as a Member of a Blue-Ribbon task force to promote equity of opportunity for women in the public-school system in 1989.

Terry married Eileen Claire Jardine on August 26, 1963.Beloved husband of Claire for 52 years a proud father, father -in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, teacher & friend. Terry taught at the Stearns High School as an English teacher, Spanish Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal and Adult Education Director for 37 years accommodating the needs of the school system touching many of the lives of his students. Terry was on the Board of Directors for Katahdin Federal Credit Union for 36 years.

Terry loved spending his summers at the family camp at South Twin Lake, waterskiing, boating and fishing with children and grandchildren, and tending his garden.

Terry loved to travel, taking in numerous Royal Caribbean cruises to countless different countries, 16 Frozen Four tournaments, making a trip to The Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta GA, along with attending Red Sox’s games every April vacation with Largays, Tapleys, and McPhersons.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Claire on August 2, 2015; brother, Ernest; sisters Ruth and Marie.

Terry is survived by sons, Terrence Michael Jr. and wife, Patti of Rumford, Matthew and wife, Ryan of Carmel, Jason and wife, Janet of Jay; grandchildren, Terrence Michael III, Seth and Hannah Daigle and their mother, Debbie Daigle-Cough, Kris Daigle and his mother, Kim Daigle, Rylee, Jaxson Joshua & Jordan Daigle, Chris Cayer and his wife, Stephanie, and great granddaughter Olivia and Nikki Cayer, Aydan & Avery Rudolph; brother-in-law, Robert Jardine of Orrington; sister-in-law Theresa Germain of Manchester NH; brother and sister-in-law Ronnie and Carol Daigle of Millinocket, David and Doris Daigle of Augusta, GA; niece, Theresa DiCentes and husband, Jimmy of Millinocket , and many former Stearns High Teachers.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 4 PM. to 7 P.M. August 1, 2019 at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday August 2, 2019 at the St Martin of Tours Catholic Church at 19 Colby Street Millinocket. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery at a later date.
