Obituary for Sybil A. Ackley

Millinocket – Sybil A. Ackley, 75, wife of the late Jerry Ackley, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at a Millinocket hospital. She was born February 24, 1943 in Norfolk, Virginia, the daughter of Sie and Irene (Cormier) Ingalls.
Sybil worked at John’s Market and Deli in East Millinocket for a number of years. Later after retiring and many wonderful years with her family she returned to work for the North Maine Woods where she enjoyed many trips into the woods fishing with Jerry. She enjoyed her family, and loved animals especially her cat.
Sybil is survived by two children, Heather Ackley and her companion Earl Cottle of East Millinocket, and Wayne Ackley and his wife Joanne of Lisbon; five grandchildren, Megan, Kristen, Jayson, Tyler, and Eric; three siblings, Susan Sweeny, Paul Ingalls, and Jane Elkins; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she helped baby sit over the years.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the thoughtful caregivers at Millinocket Regional Hospital for the many kindnesses and courtesies extended to Sybil during her final illness and also to the family while they stayed by her side.
Sybil will be laid to rest later in the springtime at the East Millinocket Cemetery, in a joint graveside committal service for her and Jerry, who died on May 3, 2012. Gifts in memory of Sybil may be sent to the Penobscot Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 73, Lincoln, ME 04457. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
