Medway - Steven C. Sherwood, 64, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. He was born August 19, 1957 in Lincoln, the son of June Sherwood and Carroll McLaughlin.
Steve was a graduate of Schenck High School, class of 1975. He served in the US Marine Corps for three years and received a Rifle Marksman Badge and a Pistol Sharpshooter Badge. Steve was very proud of his service to his country. When he enlisted in 1975, he also started his career with the Great Northern Paper Company. He was employed there until 2014 as Head Wood Handler. Steve will be remembered as a loyal, loving, dedicated, and fun husband, father, grandfather, and overall family man. He loved all outdoor activities, especially fishing and camping. Steve loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Steve is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 42 years, Audrey (Coon) Sherwood; two daughters, Amanda Harriman and Nick Chiappone of Orrington, and Angela Browne and her husband Adam of East Millinocket; his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Olivia, Shane, Kameron, and Aeris – he enjoyed teaching, teasing, and loving them. He is also survived by siblings Ansel and Colleen, Wayne and Rhonda, Chris and Marilyn, and Carolyn; a sister-in-law, Lisa; and his in laws and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Steve is predeceased by a sister, Robin, and brothers Kurt, Karl, and Sonny.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 PM Sunday, June 12 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket, where funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday, June 13 with the Rev. Allen Hamlin officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be at the Grindstone Cemetery in Medway.
