Obituary for Shirley Kozlovich

Elizabeth Margaret Shirley Sumner Kozlovich, 87 passed away after a brief illness. Shirley was born to Franklin and May Brown Sumner on October 14, 1931 in Paddockwood, Saskatchewan, Cananda. She later moved with her family to Kapuskasing, Ontario Canada, where she met the love of her life, Stephen Kozlovich. They were married on July 26, 1952 and went on to have six children. She was predeceased by her loving husband Steve of 52 years, and her daughter Gaye. Shirley is survived by five of her six children, Juli & her husband Chris Libby of Corinna, Lora and her husband Thomas Schaafsma of Old Orchard Beach, Stephen Kozlovich & his significant other Lisa Peterson of Westbrook, Owen Kozlovich, and Sara and
her husband Thomas Russell of Alameida California. Grandson Michael Osborne and his wife Angela and children Brayden, Ella & Lily, Grandson Stephen Osborne and his wife Kristin and daughter Evelyn all of Millinocket. Grandson Ry Russell of Saco, and Granddaughter Julia Russell of Alameida California,Granddaughter, Nadia Chatman and her children, Elijah and Ella Gagnon all of Brunswick, She is also survived by sisters Norine Dochylo of Christopher Lake, Saskatchewan, and Ella and her husband Lee Sweetnam of Bolton Ontario, and several special nieces and nephews.
Steve and Shirley moved to Millinocket Maine in 1959, where they raised their family. They were longtime members of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Millinocket Philharmonic Club for 25 years, she sang in many choirs. She belonged to the music boosters, and the garden club. Shirley was also the President of the Diocesan Province 1 and a member of the National Alter Guild. Shirley and Steve enjoyed their retirement years, golfing and traveling and time spent with family and friends. Shirley's last 13 years were spent at Atlantic Heights in Saco, Maine. Here she enjoyed spending time with family and many special friends, with whom she enjoyed walking, gardening and music. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Saco.
Visiting hours will be at Lamson Funeral home in Millinocket on Monday May 20 at 4pm to 6pm. The funeral will be held on Tuesday May 21 at St. Andrew's Episcpal Church in Millinocket at 11:00am with burial following.
