Obituary

Lincoln – Dad did not lose the battle, but won the race in the company of his loved ones at home on Thursday, October 31, 2019. He was born February 11, 1933 to Byron and Leona Currier and was raised in South Lincoln.

He was a loving son and brother to sisters Violet, Joanne, and Lorraine, and brothers Wayne and Roger. He was a wonderful husband to his wife Jean, who he married on January 2, 1954. Jean predeceased him in 2014. Together they raised three sons, Greg, Randy, and Dan while traveling the country and overseas during his 20 years serving in the USAF. After retiring from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant, he moved his family back to Maine, settling in Lincoln where he worked as a carpenter and expert floor installer. He could build and repair most anything, using those skills to help family and friends in need of a helping hand. Sheldon loved to hunt and fish and especially loved his yearly fishing trips to different Maine waters with family and friends who lovingly referred to him as Bubba. For many years summers were spent camping at Greenland Cove and East Grand Lake where he and Jean made many “sumner friends” and wonderful memories. A knowledgeable fisherman and handyman, whenever anything went wrong at the campground, someone would say “Go get Sheldon, he’ll fix it.” He was always eager to take family and friends out for a day on the water.

The yearly Currier family reunions were a special time for him. He loved seeing all his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews and their growing families. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and loved golf more for the company than for the score! His sons and daughters in law blessed him with many grandchildren and great grandchildren, all who brought him smiles and much love. He was proud of them and never held back how much he loved and cared for them, Heartfelt thanks to daughter in law Gina who became Sheldon’s devoted caregiver, providing so much love and comfort in his final days.

Sheldon was a good man. Hones reliable, caring, and tough as nails. A real life Superman. Dad, you’ll be greatly missed and thought of every day by all who loved you.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the fine people at Community Health and Counseling Hospice who made this journey more bearable.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Thursday, November 7, 2019 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, 164 Main Street, Lincoln, with the Rev. Richard Malo, pastor, presider. Interment, with military honors, will be at the Lincoln Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, Lincoln.
