Lincoln – Sheldon E. Cole, 78, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at his home, and is now reunited with his wife, Peggy, as he wished to be since her passing in 2011. He was born June 20, 1941 in Springfield, the son of Harland and Henrietta “Tena” (Archer) Cole.
Sheldon grew up in Lincoln, and was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy. For over 30 years, he worked in the banking profession, starting with Lincoln Trust Company, and staying with them through many mergers until retiring from Fleet Bank. For several years after that, he worked at Thornton Brothers as a part of their sales team before retiring permanently in 2006. Sheldon was a member of Horeb Lodge #93, A.F. & A.M., and also the Anah Shrine. A high point of Sheldon and Peggy’s life were trips to Hawaii, most recently with lifelong friends Gary and Bette Tibbetts, which created special memories that were recalled often. Many happy hours were also spent at camp at Shin Pond, where he and his son, Andy, enjoyed bird hunting.
Sheldon is survived by two children, Kelly Russell and her husband Tim, and Andy Cole and his wife Wendy; three grandchildren, Amy, Emily, and Cole Russell;and a great granddaughter, Elsie Krapf.
Graveside services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday, August 27 at the Lincoln Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, Lincoln.
