Obituary for Roger Blaine Morrison
LINCOLN – Roger Blaine Morrison, 94, husband of the late Marilyn Gerry, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2021 after a brief period of declining health.
Roger was born at home in Lincoln on May 2, 1926, the son of Blaine and Ruth (White) Morrison.
In high school Roger was a three sport athlete and was a member of the Mattanawcook Academy 1943 State Class B championship track team, winning the state championship title in the high hurdles.
After losing his parents as a teenager, Roger enlisted in the US Navy and reported for duty upon his graduation from Mattanawcook Academy in June of 1944. He served in the Seabees in the Pacific Theater.
After his military service he returned home, attending the University of Maine and graduating from what is now Husson University. Upon his return to Lincoln, he continued to raise his younger sister, Lorraine.
Roger and Marilyn were married in 1956. They resided in Lincoln where they raised their four children. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Winn.
A Certified Maine Assessor, Roger retired in 1991 after 20 proud years of service with the Town of Lincoln. He enjoyed his home, working in his garden, and was often seen out for a walk in the neighborhood. Roger enjoyed spending time at his woodlot, walking the property lines and showing those with him all the pretty trees. He always had a special treat in his pocket to enjoy during the time in the outdoors.
Roger was a proud WWII Veteran who treasured his country and community. Most of all, he loved his family deeply. His grandchildren have many wonderful memories of spending time with their Grampy. He joyfully spent countless hours attending their concerts and sporting events.
He is survived by his children, Sara, Bill, Jason and Adam, along with daughters-in-law, Ann Morrison and Becky Good; eight grandchildren, Will, Matt, Amie, Roger, Paige, Abby, Sydney and Lauren; seven great grandchildren, Cole, Landon, Cadence, Henley, Cormac, Henry and Parker. Also surviving is his dear sister-in-law, Jean Whirty.
In addition to his wife and parents, Roger was predeceased by his grandson, Jared, and his sisters, Mildred Rideout and Lorraine Weatherbee.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the wonderful staff and residents of Sweet Seniors in East Millinocket for their care and support these past two years.

A graveside service with military honors will be held in the spring. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, Lincoln.
