Obituary for Robert P. "Spook" McLean Jr.

Millinocket – Robert P. “Spook” McLean, Jr., 72, died Sunday, January 9, 2022 at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 21, 1949 in Millinocket.

Spook grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1967. He loved hunting, fishing, and golfing, and made many friends while enjoying another of his passions, riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Barbara A. (Boutaugh) McLean; stepson Dana Preston and his son Landon; stepdaughter Jennifer Curtis and her husband Aaron and their 5 children, Analiese, Micayla, Eli, Ruby, and Vera; two brothers, Mike McLean and his wife Brenda; Ronnie McLean and his wife Wanda; a sister, Lynn Gammon and her husband Rick; stepfather, Clyde “Buzz” Cox; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Robert was predeceased by his father, Robert P. McLean, Sr., mother, Joan (McInnis) Cox, and a sister, Dawn McLean.

The family would like to extend a special thank you Sheryl Sparlin from St. Joseph’s Diabetic Clinic and also the doctors and staff at Davita Dialysis in Lincoln, whose company Robert enjoyed during his treatments.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday September 24, 2022 at Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Robert may be sent to the American Kidney Foundation or to the American Diabetes Foundation. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
