Obituary for Richard E. "Dick" Pulkkinen

Richard E. "Dick" Pulkkinen
Millinocket – Richard E. “Dick “ Pulkkinen, 83, joined two of his sons in eternal peace Friday, September 14, 2018, with devoted family members by his side. He was born November 18, 1934 in South Livermore, to Arve and Evelyn (Clough) Pulkkinen.
He was a graduate of Island Falls High School, class of 1953. Dick was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge #1521, and was also a member of the Northern TimberCruisers Snowmobile Club, and the Hill Crest Golf Course. Dick was an Independent Trucker, and he greatly enjoyed spending time in his “pride and joy” Dodge Truck on the Golden Road. In his retirement, he worked at the golf course. He was a devoted family man, and always put great thought into all of his decisions to be certain everyone would be the better for whatever choices he made. Dick was known to be a loyal and hard working man, and in recent years when his health was failing him, his friends and neighbors stepped in and went above and beyond to care for him and keep him comfortable and as worry free as possible in his home. He felt loved and appreciated by his neighbors, friends, and family, and knew and appreciated all that was done for him.
Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara (Thorne) Pulkkinen; his children, Rebecca McLaughlin and her husband Donald “Magoo”, Karen and her husband Curtis Gaudet, Sr., Paul Pulkkinen and his wife Gwen, and a daughter in law, Tammy Pulkkinen; siblings Elaine Meiser, Johanna Pulkkinen, Dan Pulkkinen and his wife Pamela, and Walter Pulkkinen and his wife Joanne; two sisters in law, Gail Pulkkinen and Winona Farquhar; grandchildren, Shawn Pulkkinen and his significant other, Aly Sanchez, Chase Pulkkinen, Cassandra Webber-Beal, Melissa, Curtis, Jr., and Angela Gaudet, David and Will McLaughlin, Amber McLaughlin, Chelsea Marley and her husband Andrew, Dakota Vajdak, and Bobbie Jo Olexey; fifteen great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Barry Douglas Pulkkinen and Michael Elmo Pulkkinen, two brothers, John and David Pulkkinen, a sister, Marjorie Pulkkinen Carter and her husband Harry, and a brother in law, Carl Meiser.
