He worked in restaurant and retail sales management, as a sheet metal fabricator, as a film technician for Technicolor, and started two successful businesses. One was Nordick refrigeration services in Sanford, the other was the Movie Kingdom, with video rental stores in Millinocket and East Millinocket. He rented movies to the town of Millinocket for many years with his wife, best friend, business partner and tireless caregiver, Jean Norris, until they retired together in 2011.
His parents, Roland and Glenna Norris of Fort Fairfield, and his sister, Linda Crooker of Lincoln, predeceased Dick. He is survived by his wife Jean; his sister Sandra; his brothers Bob, Greg, Larry and Jeff; his children Jon, Rian, Keith, Martha, Dicky, Bobby, Denise, Shelley, Joey and Jolene; 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Dick loved to sing, was an avid jitter bugger, and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was a member of the Elks and was active in the Episcopal Church. He was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, the music of Brookes and Dunne and rarely missed an episode of the Price is Right. He especially loved his two Chihuahuas, Tootsie and Peppy, who were his constant companions and faithful protectors.
A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at St Andrews Episcopal Church, 40 Highland Avenue, Millinocket on Friday, May 10, at 2:00 PM, followed by a brief reception. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12 until the service begins at 2. Please make any memorial contributions to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
