Obituary

Lincoln – Richard A. Jipson, 73, died Thursday, July 16, 2020 at a Lincoln hospital. He was born July 11, 1947 in Webster, the son of Kenneth P. and Doris R. (Treadwell) Jipson.

Richard grew up in Webster Plantation and attended schools there. During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army, after which time he returned to Maine. Richard spent his working career as a woodsman, operating heavy equipment in the harvesting of forest products. In free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time at his camp on Scraggly Lake. Richard also enjoyed socializing with his neighbors and friends at the Lincoln Manor, both at home and on various excursions around the state. He was a man who knew how to appreciate the simple things life has to offer and was always very even tempered and pleasant to be around. Richard loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan F. (Thompson) Jipson; two children, Amanda Osgood and her husband Casey, and Troy Jipson and his wife Jennifer; four grandchildren, Philip and Grady Osgood, Gavin Jipson and Addyson Jipson; a brother, Dana Jipson and his wife Karen of Topsfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by three brothers, Floyd Jipson, Millage Jipson, and Dale Jipson, and twin brothers Dwight and Dwayne, who died shortly after birth.

Funeral services will be held privately at a later date. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, Lincoln.
