Obituary for Randolph D. "Randy" Lloyd

Howland – Randolph D. Lloyd, 62, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at a Bangor hospital. He was born August 21, 1956 in East Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Kenneth E. and Kathleen M. (Currie) Lloyd.

Randy grew up in Veazie and South Lincoln, and was a graduate of Penobscot Valley High School, class of 1975, one year ahead of schedule. For a few years, he operated “Lloyd’s Market” in West Enfield. After that, he spent his working career in retail sales, working for and managing several area businesses before opening his own shop, “Smokes For Less” in Lincoln, and, a few years later, “Lloyd’s Family Market” in Old Town. Randy was a workaholic – he loved dealing with people and was always mindful to treat people very fairhandedly. No matter their station in life, he treated people with the same dignity and respect, generously offering store credit when others might not have. Randy was a talented story teller, and could tell a tale without ever cracking a smile until the punchline was delivered or his audience couldn’t believe any more! He always had a smile on his face, unless he was giving someone “the look” over his glasses. His favorite quote, especially since opening his stores, was “Nobody likes a Quitter!” He was an avid follower of politics, and a dedicated fan of all things Trump. Randy was a well known, loved, and respected husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and businessman. He will be lovingly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lynn M. (Lindquist) Lloyd; two children, Malarie Lila Lloyd and her partner Chris Coyle, and William Albert Lloyd; two grandchildren, Emienne Coyle and Amaris Coyle, all of Howland; siblings, Danielle Dussault and her partner Luke Favreau of Montreal, Quebec, Kenneth “Squeak” Lloyd of Enfield, Terry Lee Lloyd and his wife Alana Lori of Lincoln, Sheila Faye Lloyd of Tracy, California, and David Alan Lloyd and his wife April of Howland; his mother in law, Lila Lindquist of Lincoln, and aunts Ruth and Rachel Lloyd; and many, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Randy will also be missed by his brothers and sister in law. In addition to his parents, Randy was predeceased by his uncles, Jack and Randy Lloyd, an aunt, Jeannette Gould, and his father in law, Victor Lindquist, Jr.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 11 A.M. – 1 P.M. Thursday, December 20 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 P.M. with the Rev. Jack Highland officiating. Spring interment will be at the Howland Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Randy may be sent to the American Heart Association, 51 US-1 # M, Scarborough, ME 04074.
