Obituary for Ralph E. "Buzzy" Walsh Jr.

Millinocket – Ralph E. Walsh, Jr., 75, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019, after a period of declining health brought on by the effects of Agent Orange exposure. He died in the care of his dedicated long term care givers at Patriot’s Place at Togus, after having received exceptional, dignified, and respectful care for several years, and in the presence of his family who had been by his side during his final days.
Buzzy grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1963. He worked at the Great Northern Paper Company in Millinocket when he was in high school, then joined the Army and served a tour in Vietnam. After his service was concluded, he went back to work at the mill, and retired from there as a supervisor in the Paper Room at the age of 55. He then worked for a clothing company for the machines for about 10 years. Buzzy was a member of the Francis Elliot Post #4154, V.F.W., where he spent many hours volunteering and constructing professional quality Horseshoe pits, and hosted many tournaments and raised many funds for the V.F.W. He loved spending time with his family, especially his boys, hunting, fishing, gathering fiddle heads, barb-queuing, and any outdoor activity. Buzzy will be remembered as a loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by the love of his life for over 51 years, Lynn M. (Perry) Walsh; three sons, Scott Walsh, Corey Walsh and his wife Gayle, and Aaron Walsh and his wife Amanda; four grandchildren, Jenna, Kaitlyn, Josh, and Zach; a great granddaughter, Braelyn; siblings, Bobbi Jean Madden and her husband Bernie; Michael Walsh and his wife Pat, and Karen Libby and her husband Mark; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Buzzy was predeceased by a brother, Gary Walsh; and his in laws, Wibb and Pat Perry.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held 10 A.M. Saturday, August 17 at the Millinocket Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Given officiating. Gifts in memory of Buzzy may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
