Obituary for Ralph Edgar Stratton

East Millinocket, East Winn, and Medway – Ralph Edgar Stratton, 93, spouse of the late Mabel (Cole) Stratton, passed away peacefully at 9:07 A.M. on Sunday, November 24, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
Ralph was born March 15, 1926 at home, the fifth child of six born to Martin and Jane (McKnight) Stratton, and was the last survivor of his generation. Ralph enlisted in the Navy March 10, 1944 and served on a mine sweeper until after the end of World War II in 1946. Ralph then returned to East Millinocket, resuming work at the Great Northern Paper Company and married Mabel Cole of East Winn.
Ralph and Mabel had 8 children, Carter Stratton and his wife Ellie, both now deceased, Mark Stratton and his deceased wife Claudina of Kentucky, Sarah Jacobs and her husband Jake of Florida, Sylvia McGibbon and her husband Tom of Maine, David Stratton and Michael Kennedy of California, Brian Stratton and his wife Naomi of Maine, Norman Stratton and his wife Karen of Massachusetts, and Phillip Stratton and his wife Marie of Maine; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition, Ralph and Mabel were foster parents to many children who called him “Dad”, including Dale Hayes and Jackie Powers and her husband Bill.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 1-2 PM Saturday, November 30 at the Donald V. Henry Post #80 of the American Legion, Central Street, Millinocket, where a Celebration of Ralph’s Life Service will be held at 2 PM.
