Millinocket – Ralph M. Cousins, 92, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 7, 2018 at an East Millinocket health care facility. He was born July 4, 1925 in Caribou, the son of Louis and Mildred Cousins.
Ralph grew up in Caribou, and was a graduate of Caribou High School. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Airborne division, and was notably a participant in the D-Day invasion at Normandy. Ralph worked for more than 30 years for the Great Northern Paper Company in Millinocket as a papermaker. He was a faithful communicant of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Millinocket. Ralph was a proud member of St. Martin’s Council #680, Knights of Columbus, where he served as a 4th Degree Knight. He was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Millinocket, and was also instrumental in the building of the Snowmobile Museum at the Northern TimberCruisers Snowmobile Club, where he has some of his sleds on display. Ralph loved spending time with his family, and especially doing so at his camp on Smith Pond, where many happy memories were made with friends and family.
He is survived by a son, Louis Cousins and his wife Milissa of Farmington; six grandchildren, Dustyn, Issac, Dylan, Rose, Katie, and Mike; two great grandchildren, Kolton and Hayley; a brother, Carroll Cousins; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Dora C. (Cowette) Cousins, a daughter, Millicent Cousins-Franck, and seven siblings.
Graveside services with military honors will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday, May 15 at the Millinocket Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Siket officiating. Gifts in memory of Ralph may be sent to the Knights of Columbus Council #680, P.O. Box 414, Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
