Obituary for Rae Marie Robertson

Rae Marie Robertson, 71, daughter of John E. and Patricia A. (Read) Ferris (Michaud), passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center from complications associated with stomach cancer. She now joins Mama, Daddy, her unborn younger sister, Judith Lee, and the Ferris/Read family in heaven.
She dearly missed Mama since her passing in June 2013 and they really became best of friends after retiring as the head of circulation from the Lincoln, Rhode Island public library and returning home to Lincoln, Maine in September 2010. During her illness she would mention many times, "I am just like Mama" which probably had a special meaning (to her), yet cryptic (to this writer).
She was very active in the community since returning to her old hometown, serving on various town committees and other organizations, two of which included the Lincoln Historical Society and the Penobscot Valley Hospital Auxiliary.
You may also have seen her at Steaks N' Stuff as she worked there as a cashier for a brief time on a couple of occasions. She had a pleasant personality and was easy to talk to.
Her positive attitude was infectious. She was a "social butterfly" and had a knack for being the person of reason when disagreement among friends arose. She was a friend to all....
She enjoyed camping with Reggie, her dog Coco and their many friends, and spending time and having cookouts at Patrick's camp on Mattanawcook Lake where she was looking forward to spending a week there this summer as unofficial reservations had already been made.
She leaves behind her two brothers, Peter Ferris and his wife, Sue of Manchester, New Hampshire and their children, Charity, Dan, and Noelle and their families; Patrick Ferris of Lincoln, ME along with numerous cousins near and far; her fiancée and best friend, Reggie Drinkwater and his children, Amy and Shaun and their families; her beloved dog, Coco (the child she never had) and adopted cat, Abby; her many friends here and in Rhode Island and her former husband of 38 years, Paul, and sister-in-law Marsha.
During the last couple of weeks, even though busy with therapy and nurses in and out during the day, she enjoyed visits from those who came. Her cousins Tori Fortin, Dick and Beverly Pepin, Ronnie and Stephen Moody, Jerry and Ellen Butterfield and Carol Jean Wedge. Her nephew Dan and his wife Yvonne and their son Connor. Amy Porter and Shaun Drinkwater. Friend Sue Goding of Eastport and friends and former co-workers, Dawn Coons, of Woonsocket, R.I. and Becky Boragine of Seekonk, MA both of whom she spoke with the Monday before she passed. Her spirits were lifted during these face-to-face and phone visits. None was more evident than that last visit she had with cousin Carol Jean. At that moment with Rae Marie sitting up in her wheelchair a sense of hope seemed to be there but God had other plans. She would especially want to thank you all again who visited and also to those who couldn't but sent cards.
Donations in her memory, if one chooses, may be made to the Lincoln Historical Society or the Penobscot Valley Hospital Auxiliary.
