Obituary for Pierre Joseph "Pete" Lemay

Enfield - Pierre (Pete) Joseph Lemay, 92, passed away on March 30, 2023, in the gentle care of his loving family at his home on Cold Stream Pond. He was born April 21, 1930, in St. Quentin, N.B., Canada to George Pierre Lemay and Leonie (Lebel) Lemay. His twin sister did not survive.
Pete was a kind and generous man. He stood for all things good, and was an example to all
who knew him. His faith in God was his moral compass in life. As a child his faith was tested when he lost his father in a tragic accident at the tender age of 7. That day changed his life forever.
The family was split apart, and Pierre was taken to live with an Uncle after spending a year in an orphanage. It was there that Pete learned his first lessons in hard work and perseverance.
He carried that work ethic into his adult life and instilled it in his children.
In August,1955, Pierre married Isabelle Reine Dickinson and began to raise a family. First, they lived in Lincoln, where Pierre worked, and then they moved to West Enfield where Pete
started his own business with the support of good friends. “Pete’s Machine Shop” was a source of great pride for a man who was denied the opportunity to go school because he had to work as a boy. Pete worked many long hours to support his family and make his business a success. Pierre’s mechanical and welding skills became well known for miles around, he passed those skills down to his five sons along with many other young men through the years.
Sadly, in April of 2006, Pete lost his wife, Isabelle, to Pancreatic cancer. Through this difficult
time he was encouraged to keep enjoying life. In November, 2007, Pierre married Ederle (Ludden) Cloukey, who had also lost her very dear spouse to cancer. Together they forged a new life. Throughout the years, Pete’s vision has been taken from him due to Macular Degeneration. Ederle has been a great source of comfort, love and support.
Pierre leaves behind his wife, Ederle; five sons: George, Roger (Linda), Paul (Terese), Patrick
(Dany), Richard (Shannon); a daughter, Maryanne (Brian); as well as 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, and 4 sisters; and many extended family members.
Through his 92 years, Pete has mourned the loss of many in his life, family and friends. We will dearly miss this amazing, wonderful man, but we are grateful for the time we had with him. We will forever cherish him and feel his presence in our hearts.

Love you Dad.
