Obituary for Peter J Mackin

Millinocket – Peter J. Mackin, 57, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at a Portland hospital, joining his parents along with his brother Michael in heaven. He was born July 19, 1964 in Millinocket, the son of Clarence and Gail (Whitehouse) Mackin.

Peter grew up in Millinocket and attended Millinocket schools. He left high school early to attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He served a tour in the U.S. Navy before being honorably discharged. Peter led an interesting life, and enjoyed reading a good book, spending time outside walking, gardening, or trapping with his father when he was younger. He had an infectious laugh, was always whistling while walking and cooking and an indelible sense of humor and a gift of sharing stories of his experiences, which will live on in the memories of those who loved him. Peter also loved to cook, and his homemade bread, along with his presence in general, will be missed.

He is survived by two daughters, Ashley Sirois and her husband Adam, and Meagan Covell and her husband Nick; six grandchildren, Cameron, Casey, Cali, Aiden, Xander, and Archer; five siblings, David Mackin, Patricia Mackin-Vaznis and Steve, Dawn Rudolf, Roxanna Mackin, and Laura Mackin-Sharapan and her wife Danielle; and several aunts and cousins. Peter will also be missed by a special nephew and niece, Michael Rudolf and Faith Currier, her husband Greg, and their children, Addison and Mitchell, along with the mother of his children, Elizabeth Paquin.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at the Millinocket Cemetery later in the springtime. Peter, may you rest in peace and love. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket. Messages of condolence may be expressed at Peter’s Book of Memories at www.lamsonfh.com.
