Obituary for Perley Allen Fisher

Medway – Perley Allen Fisher, 89, died Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at a Houlton health care facility. He was born March 9, 1932 in North Anson the son of Delmar A. and Birdena Belle Fisher.

Perley was brought up on a farm in his early years. He worked at a restaurant as a bell hop and prep cook. Perley was a famous football star quarter back for the Skowhegan Indians and could run a quarter mile in 11 seconds!

Perley enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on May 25, 1950. He served in the Korean Conflict and in Japan in 1950-51. He married his loving wife Mary E. (Watts) Fisher in Austin Texas. While in the Air Force, he worked on F-84 jets, F-100 jets, attended Atomic Weapons School, and moved around to seven states, Bitburg, Germany, and the Philippine Islands. He also worked on F-102, F-106, and B-57 jet bombers. Perley did two tours in South Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service in 1970, then moved back to Maine and worked for the Great Northern Paper Company as a trucker in the Finishing Room before retiring in 1990. He and Mary enjoyed spending winters in Tampa, Florida in their trailer and traveling with family. Perley attended Tri Town Baptist Church in East Millinocket and the Brethren Gospel Hall in Augusta, and The Chapel in Tampa. He loved fishing and hunting and spending time with his family. He had a big heart and loved to help people.

Perley is survived by his sons, William Fisher and his wife Julia of Tampa, Florida, William’s son, Eric and Mindy of Indiana and daughter April Fisher of Austin, Texas and John Fisher and his wife Dottie of Salem, Massachusetts, John’s sons John and wife Joanie Fisher of California and and Scott and wife Marlene Fisher of Salem Massachusetts; a daughter, Susan Pedersen and her husband Anders of Woodville and her son Sean Michael Clark; Lorraine's loving daughter Jennie and Alan Raymond of Augusta, also a special granddaughter Ingrid Holmes of Jonesport; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Perley was predeceased by his wife in 2009, a daughter, Lorraine M. Fisher in 2017, brothers Sammy and Leemond Fisher, two sisters, Virginia Fisher, and Janette Bryant, and his canine friends Sandy and Nikki.

Memorial services will be held 2 PM Saturday, February 19 at Glad Tidings Church of God with Pastor Rich Ponte officiating. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Grindstone Cemetery, Medway. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
