Obituary for Pauline L "Polly" Thibodeau

Mattawamkeag – Pauline L. “Polly” Thibodeau, 86, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020 at a hospital in Bangor. She was born June 6, 1934 in Lincoln, the daughter of Thomas and Madge (Worster) Hunter.

Polly grew up on a farm in Macwahoc, and spoke often of her experiences there. She was a graduate of Mattawamkeag High School. She married Merton “Bud” Thibodeau in 1953, and they remained together until his passing in 2003, having celebrated their 50th anniversary. Polly was very proud of having lived in the same house in Mattawamkeag for more than 63 years, where she raised her family. Polly loved people, and made many great memories and developed several friendships through her years of working as a waitress at The Rose Bowl in Lincoln and later at Crossroads Restaurant in Mattawamkeag. In later years, Polly enjoyed going on several bus tours with her friends, travelling to many spots around the country.

She is survived by two sisters in law, Juanita Hunter, and Loretta Manzo and her husband, Dick; a son in law, Craig Chamberlain; very special caretakers, Caroline and Charles LeRoux; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her husband, Polly was predeceased by three daughters, Karla Chamberlain, Marla Thibodeau, and Shari Thibodeau; a brother, Milton Hunter, and a sister in law, Beverly Hanneman.
