Obituary for Patricia A. Cole (Boyer)

Winn – Patricia A. (Boyer) Cole, 68, passed away on Sunday, January 16th, 2022 at Mid Coast Hospital surrounded by her devoted husband and children. She was born on October 26, 1953 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, daughter of Herbert Boyer Sr. and Marlene (Vadis) Spradlin.
Pat moved around a lot as a young child, attending 12 schools from the years of Kindergarten through 6th grade. She did stay in one place (East Grand Forks, Minnesota) from grade 7 til she graduated from the senior high school there in 1971. Fresh from her graduation, she married the love of her life, Oland (Lanny) Cole. They shared 50 years of marriage together. They started a family very early in their marriage so Pat was a stay-at-home wife and mom for the years that her 3 kids grew and were in school. During this time, her favorite pastime was crafting. Anything from cross-stitch patterns to painted wooden figures, she enjoyed making items and either giving them to her friends and families or selling her goods at craft shows. The family benefited from her being home in so many ways. She ran all the duties of keeping the household afloat as well was being home when the kids came from school. Once the youngest, Jon, was in 5th grade, Pat was able to branch out and work outside of the home. She worked in education (as a substitute teacher), became a student (achieving an associate’s degree with high honors from EMMC at the age of 54) and taught Adult Ed computer classes. In 2002, she started working for the Town of Lincoln as a counter clerk but eventually moved to the town office in her hometown of Winn in 2014. Starting in June of 2018, she started working for St. Mary of Lourdes Parish (now Our Lady of the Eucharist) as an administrative assistant. A convert to the Catholic faith, she was involved at the church as well, starting as a faith formation teacher and becoming a lector in the later years. Besides her work at the parish, Pat was a social butterfly at family gatherings and events always making sure there was enough food for all and always adding a special touch wherever she could. In her later years, her full-time passion was to be ‘Grammie’ to her 8 grandchildren. She loved her family fiercely. Pat was such a presence in the lives of all who happen to cross her path everywhere she went and the impact of her absence will be deeply felt.
Pat is survived by her husband, Lanny; three children, Timothy Cole and his wife Brooke, Jennifer Hikel and her husband EJ, and Jonathan Cole and his wife Ashley; eight grandchildren Evelyn, Alexandra, Levi, Mason, Addison, Catherine, Gabriel and Carly; 3 siblings, Charlene Banks and her husband Richard, Herbert Boyer Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, and Katherine Jacobs and her husband Doug; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Pat, was predeceased by her younger sister, Susan, who died at the age of 6 from leukemia.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-8 PM Thursday, January 27 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road LIncoln. A Catholic Mass funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Lincoln on January 28 at 10:00am. Internment will be Saturday June 25, 2022 at 10:00AM at the Winn Cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone who prayed for her. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to make a donation in Pat’s name to St. Jude’s Children Hospital to help in the fight against children leukemia. Services will be livestreamed and may be viewed, and messages of condolence expressed, at Patricia's Book of Memories at www.lamsonfh.com.
