Obituary for Patricia Ellen "Pat" Burnham

Lincoln and Oakland - Patricia “Pat” Ellen Shorey Burnham was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior on June 22, 2022, at age 74. Pat was born to Cecil Levens “Spike” Shorey and Elaine Davis Shorey on October 6, 1947, in Lincoln, Maine. She attended Lincoln schools and graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1965. Pat met her husband, the love of her life, Gordon “Rusty” Burnham in 1968. They married in November 1969 and went on to have three girls, Amy, Keely, and Meghan. Upon being released from the Marine Corps in 1972, they made Lincoln their home for the next fifty years. Pat and Rusty recently relocated to Oakland, fulfilling her long held desire of living closer to her grandchildren. Pat was a loving wife, mom, nana, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was also a thoughtful, giving, helpful, and godly woman; a great cook, baker, and craftswoman. Throughout the years she taught in adult education, was a member of the Lincoln Fire Auxiliary, an active member of her high school graduating class, and worked at Penobscot Valley Hospital for 35 years. One of her crowning achievements was earning her RN at age 55, a lifetime goal of hers. Pat’s greatest passions were her love for God and her family. From the time she was saved, at 10 years old, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She was an integral member of Bible Baptist Church of Lincoln, serving in varied capacities, including Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, church clerk, hospitality committee chairman, pulpit committee member, and many other unseen roles. Upon relocating to Oakland, she looked forward to finding her niche at Grace Bible Church. Her life was truly a living testament to God’s amazing grace. Pat is predeceased by her parents, Spike and Elaine Shorey, and a very special great aunt and uncle, Winnie and Cob Ireland. Pat is survived by her beloved husband, Rusty; daughters, Amy Dixon and husband Shon, Keely Burnham, and Meghan Hassele; grandchildren, Dustee Dixon, Elena Hassele, Silas Hassele, Briley Dixon, Knowlen Dixon, and Gunnar Dixon; siblings, Doug Shorey and wife Mary D., Mary K. Willette, Rhonda Dyer, and Glen Shorey; multiple nieces and nephews and a long line of loving, extended family members. Pat’s final words on this earth came from her favorite hymn, “Count Your Blessings, Name Them One by One, and it Will Surprise you What the Lord Has Done”. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, Maine. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 PM with the funeral following at 4:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Terry Upcott, Pastor Steve McNally, and Pastor Don Niles. Following the funeral, a gathering will be held at Bible Baptist Church, 53 Fleming Street, Lincoln, Maine. At Pat’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bible Baptist Church of Lincoln or Grace Bible Church of Oakland. Services will be livestreamed and may be viewed, and messages of condolence expressed, at Patricia’s Book of Memories at www.lamsonfh.com.
