Obituary for Norma J. Dow

Millinocket – Norma J. Dow, 84, wife of the late John W. Dow, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at a Bangor hospital after a long illness. She was born May 8, 1937 in Portland, the daughter of James and Thelma (Goode) Napier.

Norma grew up in Calais, and was a graduate of Calais High School, class of 1955, and attended nursing school in Presque Isle. She worked as an LPN at Millinocket Regional Hospital for several years until she retired. She was a fan of Bluegrass Music, with a special appreciation for the banjo. Norma was a faithful and active member of the First Congregational Church of Millinocket for many years. She will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family with all her heart and soul.

Norma is survived by two daughters, Lisa Davies and Paula Linneken; a son, Jim Dow; three grandchildren, Aaron Davies, Kayla Dow, and Christine Macisso; three great grandchildren, Owen Macisso, Natalie Macisso, and Norah Jordan; a sister in law, Jane Fitzgerald and her husband Dean; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Norma will also be missed by her dear friend, Rose Goddard.

Memorial services will be held 11 AM Thursday, December 16 at the First Congregational Church of Millinocket, 274 Katahdin Avenue, Millinocket with the Rev. Terry Given, pastor, presider. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church in the hour preceding the service. Gifts in memory of Norma may be sent to the First Congregational Church of Millinocket, 274 Katahdin Avenue, Millinocket, ME 04462. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery in the springtime.
