East Millinocket – Neil (Nick, Sonny) Henry Nicholson, 88, passed away January 6,
2023. He was born June 2, 1934, the son of Henry Neil and Sophie (Scopie) Nicholson.
Neil graduated from Schenck High School and went right to work at Great Northern
Paper in East Millinocket. He retired as a machinist after many years of service.
He dedicated his retirement years to caring for his loving wife, Loretta Jean Nicholson.
He liked to refinish furniture, cain chairs, gardening, going for walks and boating.
He is survived by his Sister Nancy Lyons, Sister in Laws Rita Landry and; Joyce
Nicholson. Son in law Gary Rideout, son Scott Nicholson and wife Judy, daughter
Denise Elwell and husband Richard, son Shawn Nicholson and wife Karen, son Cory
Nicholson and wife Barbara. His special grandchildren are Jason Rideout, Melissa
Brown, Emily Coffin, Nate Elwell, Nicole Vainio, Nicholas Crocker, Becky Glidden, Erin
Pyle, Shawn, Brian and; Dana Pelletier.
Neil had several great grandchildren that he held close to his heart. Damien and; Ronan
Brown, Elijah and; Gaby Coffin, Hannah and; Sam Boone, Jordyn and; Jake Glidden, Connor and;
Jayden Pelletier. Thea and; Hadley Crocker, and Victor Vainio.
Neil was predeceased by his wife of many years Loretta Jean (Landry) Nicholson,
brother Daniel Nicholson, brother in laws Donald Lyons, Cary and; Walter Landry, sister
Irene Riddel and; her husband Thomas Riddel, In laws Gilda and; Gerald Vienneau, Norma and;
Grady West and his daughter Katelyn (MacDonald) Inners.
A memorial service is planned for later this spring.
