Obituary for Mona L. Spinney (Farley)

Danforth – Mona L. Spinney, 94, wife of the late Forest Spinney, Sr., died Saturday, May 8, 2021 at a Houlton health care facility. She was born March 14, 1927 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Fredrick and Louise (McKinney) Farley.

Mona worked at Rideout’s Lodge and Cottages for 27 years, a job she loved, and was the longest serving employee in the history of the business. Mona enjoyed sewing and knitting, and spending time with her family. She loved shopping, and drove herself on many trips to Connecticut and beyond. Mona was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, and will be remembered as an active member of the community.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Phelps and her husband Terry of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Kathy Lee and her husband Bruce of Danforth; six grandchildren, Melissa, Rachel, Bruce, Adam, Denny, and Crystal; seven great grandchildren, Michael, Caitlyn, Emily, Bruce A., Shanisha, Jessica, Jamie, Madison, Gage, and Nevada,; twelve great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband Forrie, with whom she shared more than 52 years, Mona was predeceased by a son, Forest Spinney, Jr., and two siblings, Dorothy Jutras and Leslie Farley.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 PM Thursday, May 13 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Road, Danforth, where funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday, May 14, with Reverend Pete Grenier officiating. Interment will be at the Hilltop Cemetery, Danforth. Services will be livestreamed and may be viewed, and messages of condolence expressed, at Mona’s Book of Memories at www.lamsonfh.com.
