Obituary for Michael B. McLain

Ambajejus Lake, USA – Michael B. McLain, 74, died Friday, February 11, 2022 at his home. He was born June 16, 1947 in Millinocket to Byron and Eva (Jucius) McLain.

Mike was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1965. He served in the Maine Army National Guard, and worked at Great Northern Paper Company for 45 years as an Instrument Tech. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1521, Donald Henry Post #80 of the American Legion, the Fin & Feather Club, and the Northern Timber Cruisers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing pool at the Elks Lodge. Mike lived at his camp on Ambajejus Lake, USA. Mike really enjoyed watching his girls play sports in high school from basketball, softball, ice hockey, field hockey, and track and field.

Mike is survived by his daughters, Michaela Qualey and husband Adam, Shannon Weymouth and husband Paul from Coventry, Connecticut, Nola Jackson and her husband Jamie of Madbury, New Hampshire, and Wendy McLain of East Millinocket; his grandchildren, Joyce, Derric, Amanda, Nolan, George, Kendalyn, Maddyn, Landon, and Percy; great grandchildren Jordan, Destinee, and Kaylee; his brother Paul McLain and his wife Gail; his sister Linda Oliver and friend Francis Megno; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by two sisters, Jackie Casey and Maxine Daigle, and his daughter Joyce Marie McLain.

At Mike’s request there will be no visiting hours. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery on June 18, 2022 11:00 AM. “May I be in heaven a half hour before the devil knows I’m dead!”
