Obituary for Michael E. Libby

Lincoln – Michael E Libby, 73, loving husband, father, and Grampy, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Northern Lights EMMC. He was born August 22, 1947 in Lincoln, the son of F. Rhoden and Dorothy (Wescott) Libby.

Michael grew up in Lincoln, and was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy, class of 1965, and a graduate of Northern Maine VTI, class of 1967. He worked at Colonial Acres before buying the Lincoln Redemption Center, and owned Village Dry Cleaners, owning both businesses for 20 years. Michael was also a volunteer driver for Penqis Transportation, past president of Lincoln Little League, and coached at the Lincoln Recreation Department before coaching Football, “B” Basketball and “B” Baseball for 20 years at Mattanawcook Jr. High School. Favorite hobbies of Michael were flying, motorcycles, camping, 4-wheeling, golfing, and photography. He was an active member and chair of the Trustees at the First United Methodist Church in Lincoln.

In addition to his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara S. (White) Libby; Michael is survived by his children, who he was so proud of – Michaeleen Wood and Victor of Otis, Heath Libby and Tammy of Lincoln, Ryan Libby and Jessica Leech of Millinocket; his beloved grandchildren, Nathan McCarthy, Ashley and Kristian Soucy, and Cheyanne Libby and fiancé Travis Cropley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends. In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by his brothers, Eugene and Leroy Libby.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 P.M. Saturday, March 20 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Graveside services will be held in the springtime.
