Obituary for Michael Loren Jarvis

Lincoln - Michael Loren Jarvis died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones in Bangor, Maine on November 4, 2020 at the age of 73.
Michael was born on May 22, 1947 in Danforth, Maine and moved to Lincoln as a small child. He graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1966. He married his soulmate, Linda Jarvis in 2004. At a very young age, Michael began working for Lincoln Pulp and Paper as a machine back tender and worked there for 40 years. Over the years, Michael welcomed many children into his home. His door was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were a very important part of his life. His family remember him as a kind and gentle man.
Michael had a love of sports and often would reminisce of the days when he played sports from back yard ball through his school years and even as a young adult. He loved interacting with the young athletes whenever possible from umpiring a little league game to moving the chains at the MA home football games. He was an active and dedicated member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Lincoln, Maine for over 40 years. Anyone who knew Mike knew his love and devotion to Jesus Christ.
Michael is survived by his wife of 16 years, Linda Jarvis. His sister, Verna Wilson and her husband Leo, brothers, Laurence Smart, III and his wife Sandy, David Smart and Cathy, Jeffrey Smart and his wife Marge all of Lincoln, ME and Richard Smart of Winn, ME. He is also survived by his children and step children, Cody and Jolene Stow of Calais, ME, Kim McLain and her fiancé Harold of Millinocket, ME, Paul and Elizabeth Gamble of Millinocket, ME, Heather-Jo Wrigley and her fiancé Alan of Wolfeboro, NH, Michael and Andrea Jarvis of Lincoln, ME, Arthur Jarvis of Bangor, ME, Sheila and Marc Lachance of West Enfield, ME and Darcie and Bryant Twist of Mattawamkeag, ME, and many cousins, nieces and nephews as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Shirley and Laurence Smart, Jr., his sister, Sharon Cunningham, and his sons, Roger Jarvis and Shane Arbo.
A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, November 16, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Lincoln Cemetery. Pastor Tony Stewart will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Michael’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the sent to Mattanawcook Academy Athletics Boosters Club. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Northern Light EMMC for their compassion and special care for him during his stay. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, Lincoln.
