Obituary for Marilyn A. Potter (Taylor)
Lincoln – Marilyn A. Potter, “Nana Mal”, loving wife of Richard Potter, and beautiful mother of six children, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at home with family by her side. She was born July 27, 1934 in Lincoln to Leo and Susan (Pickering) Taylor.
Mal cherished her family and friends. Many people will remember her not only for her warm, loving personality but also for her cooking – particularly her homemade bread, faithfully made every Saturday, along with baked beans. The best part of her bread was that she baked it in coffee cans, in which the grooves allowed for a perfect slice of heaven! As her granddaughter so eloquently stated, “Nana’s kitchen table offered a place for anyone in town to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, a bite to eat, or just a good laugh.”
Mal was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy, class of 1952. She married Richard, her high school sweetheart, September 14, 1952. They enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends for a lot of years. Many memories were made on the Big Narrows at camp, at their hunting camp, and on numerous streams. Marilyn worked for Sears and JC Penney after her kids were grown. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Richard, her mom and dad, a brother, Milton Taylor, a son, Taylor Brent, a grandson, Brennon, and a daughter in law, Noel. Mal will be deeply missed by her children, Shari Worcester and her husband Rollie of Lincoln, Rick Potter and his wife Jenn of Houlton, David Potter and his wife Megan of Virginia, Sue Blood and her husband Sandy of Lincoln, and Kemp Potter and his wife Jennifer of North Carolina. Mal was blessed with eleven grandchildren; soon to be ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
