East Millinocket - Lyndon A. Crosby, 92, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born June 27, 1930 in East Millinocket, the son of Frank and Helen (Lee) Crosby. Lyndon is survived by his wife and best friend of 68 years, Elizabeth (Dunphy) Crosby.
Lyndon and Elizabeth married on June 19, 1954 and lived a beautiful life together, raising their two daughters Laurie Robichaud and her husband Vernon of Woodville, and Donna Birkel and her husband Kevin of Brewer.
Lyndon worked at the Great Northern Paper Company in East Millinocket for 32 years, retiring in 1987. He was on the credit committee for the EastMill Federal Credit Union, served with the East Millinocket Police Department, and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Chanticleer (ASR-7). Lyndon was a member of the First Congregational Church of East Millinocket, the Pine Tree Lodge #172, A.F. & A.M. in Mattawamkeag, the Scottish Rite Bodies, and Donald Henry Post #80 of the American Legion in Millinocket. Lyndon’s family meant everything to him, and he loved them all.
In addition to his wife and daughters, Lyndon is survived by his grandchildren, Jeremy Atwood and his wife Robin, and their two children Eva and Ben; Leah Atwood and Mike Chasse; Jason Birkel and his wife Erin and their son Brooks, and Ryan Birkel and his wife Megan and their two children Olivia and Isabel; a sister, Colleen Williams; and several nieces nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Lyndon was predeceased by brothers Gordon, Donald, Joe, and Sheldon; and sisters Maggie, Fern, and Gwen.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lyndon’s caregivers for the professional, loving and exceptional care given to him during his final illness – Ashley, Angela, Amanda, Melissa, and Steve.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, September 30 at the First Congregational Church of East Millinocket, 11 Maple Street, East Millinocket with the Rev Jane Mary Frost, pastor, presiding. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the hour preceding the service. Interment will be at the East Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Lyndon may be sent to the First Congregational Church or East Millinocket, 11 Maple St, East Millinocket, ME 04430, or to the Shriner’s Hospital/ Burn Care, 51 Bloom Street, Boston, MA 02114.
