Millinocket – Linwood “Liny” Roland Roix, 96, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. He was born on August 16, 1924 in Presque Isle to Wallace and Cassie (Adams) Roix.
Linwood grew up in Presque Isle, and was a graduate of Presque Isle High School, class of 1943. He served in the Navy “Seabees” in 1943 and earned an Honorable Discharge in 1945. Linwood was a faithful member of the Nazarene Church for 61 years. The family traveled on many weekends providing special music for Reformed Baptist and Nazarene churches in Maine and Canada. Their talent of harmonizing together came as a God given talent and they chose to use it for God’s glory. He chose auto body work as his career of which he took great pride in. He mentored under his father for several years learning the trade and then moved his family to Millinocket in 1959 where he worked for several car dealerships in the area. After retirement he worked for Katahdin Federal Credit Union tending the grounds.
Linwood was a devoted husband to Esther (Shaw) Roix for 64 years. He is survived by three daughters, Sandra Gaines and husband, Ron of Lubbock, Texas; Brenda Larson and husband, Allen of Goffstown, New Hampshire and Linda Labby and husband, Richard of Millinocket. Eight grandchildren, Kymberley Maddox and husband, Bruce; Steven Walls and wife Kayla; Shaun Murphy; Darren Murphy and wife, Christina; Lori Olsen and husband, Jim; Shannon Larson; Chad Labby and wife, Stacey, and Marcus Labby; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Four siblings, Elwood Roix; Barbara Brunette, Opal Marquis and Patricia McKay. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Esther; daughter, Donna; sons-in-law, Richard Walls; David Murphy and Donald Guilford; also several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Funeral arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home of Millinocket. There will be a public viewing from 12:00-12:45pm on Wednesday, December 30 at the Living Hope Church of the Nazarene, 3 Palm Street, East Millinocket. Due to Covid restrictions of a maximum attendance of 50, a private service will be held at 1:00pm with Allen Archer, Pastor of Beacon on the Hill in Lincoln, and Allen Hamlin, Pastor of the Millinocket Nazarene Church officiating. Services will be livestreamed, and messages of condolence expressed, at www.lamsonfh.com.
