Obituary for Linwood L. Libby

Lincoln - Linwood Lawrence Libby, 76, passed away peacefully, February 3, 2023, in his home in Passadumkeag, Maine. He was born April 30, 1946 in Lincoln, the son of Floyd Albert and Lelia Mae Libby. Linwood was a 1964 graduate of Mattanawcook Academy. He
studied to be an accountant at Husson College and he worked for the Caron Company as a salesman. He then managed what eventually was named Libby’s Market, which included the gas station, convenience store and motel, and eventually purchased it and turned it into apartments. He had a playful nature and a wicked sense of humor. He was a very generous man who helped many people over the years. Although he was born with only one arm, he prided himself on doing everything his friends did. He played baseball, football, was an avid fly fisherman and hunter, and a very good shot with a rifle. He loved to drive. His 1968 green Buick Riviera was a prized possession. He traveled extensively, loved football and always caught NASCAR whenever he could. Live races were a source of great pleasure. He loved living on Cold Stream and taking his family out on the water in his boat. He is survived by his two sons, Linwood Libby, Jr. and his wife Alison, Brian Libby, and a step-daughter Tamera Simmons; six grandchildren, Brianne Libby, Emily McCormick-Libby and her wife, Sara, Adam Libby, Paige Tash, and her husband Laurence, and Brandon Wardwell, five great-grandchildren; Piper and Poppy McCormick-Libby; Dominik, Aaliah, and Walker Tash, and two sisters, Joan Dana and her husband, Chet; Beverly DuPont, and his brother Randy Libby and wife Betty; In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Lorraine Kelly and his brother Terry Libby.
Services and internment will be held in the Spring. Gifts in Linwood’s memory can be sent to Eastern Maine Down Syndrome Support, 93 St. Louis Ave., Bangor, ME 04401. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
