Obituary

Burlington - Lillian Grace Thomas, 93, was the daughter of Madeleine and Clyde Shorey. She was the sister to Lora Harding, Hopie Colby, Nonie Priest, Barbara Smith, Clyde Shorey, and Orland Shorey. She graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1944, and lived most of her life in Burlington, Maine with her husband of over 50 years, Frederick Thomas. They raised four loving children and shared great love from them and their spouses,Ted Thomas and wife Beth, Katie Johnson and husband Robert, Cynthia Parker and husband Carl, and Marianne Parker and husband Morgan. She was adored by many nieces and nephews. She and Frederick were proud to start Thomas Distributors, a family business. She loved their many years of wintering in Florida, and summers at the family camp on Cold Stream Pond. She always put family first, passing on the importance and celebration of family to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was very active in their lives, going to events, big and small, and looked forward to summer reunions when all of her family could be together. Every holiday and birthday in the family was celebrated to the fullest, with music playing (she taught herself to play guitar), singing and dancing, card playing, and a table of her home-cooked meals with favorites of apple and custard pie. Chocolate chip cookies and her famous chocolate fudge also served as May Day treats and as a welcome to any visitors, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never left the house without her lipstick and had a passion for shopping, the family often joking about her shoe collection. However, she showed by the way she lived that the simple things in life like family, friends, curiosity, and a good laugh are all you need. She was of service to her community through her volunteerism for various causes, cooking and organizing bean suppers, and by her work as a candy striper. Her life was rich with friendship, and she was an avid bridge player and diehard Red Sox fan. She loved to read, do crosswords, and crochet in her free time, with her poodle Honey at her side. She is survived by her four children. She was beloved by her 7 grandchildren, Courtney, Amanda, Tom, Sara, Lacey, Jill, and Abby, their spouses, and her 15 great-grandchildren, all who will carry on her legacy.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 12-2 PM Saturday, May 22 at Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be private. Per her wishes, in lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Penobscot Valley Humane Society, Lincoln, Maine.
