Obituary for Lewis C. "Skip" Cushman Jr.

Millinocket – Lewis C. “Skip” Cushman, Jr., 61, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born May 23, 1960, in Rockland, the son of Lewis and Ellouise (Alward) Cushman.

Skip grew up in Belfast, and was a graduate of Belfast High School, class of 1978. Skip loved anything to do with the water and was a talented boat refurbisher. He loved fishing both salt water and fresh waterways and spent many happy hours with family and friends in that pursuit. Being nimble with his hands, he enjoyed tying flies. Skip was a history buff and had an impressive knowledge of military and war time actions. He also loved following the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, and during the lull between those sports, Skip could often be found reading, listening to music, or enjoying a good western or action movie. Though he professed a disdain for them, he was very fond of his families’ pet dogs and cats and loved spending time watching birds. While he was a private man, Skip will be missed by his family and those whose life he touched.

Skip is survived by his father, Lewis C. Cushman, Sr. and his wife Gerri; wife Cindy Satchfield; two daughters, Melissa and Amy Cushman; a brother, Tim Cushman and his wife Jodi; two sisters, Julie Kelley and her husband Charles, and Angela Coble; his companion Tina French; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Skip will also be missed by his feline friend, Tank. He was predeceased by his mother.

Graveside services will be held 10 AM Saturday, May 7 at the Kelley Family Cemetery, Dyer’s Bay Road, Steuben. Gifts in memory of Skip may be sent to your local “no kill” animal shelter. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
