Obituary for Leslie "Frank" Johnson Jr.

Millinocket - Leslie "Frank" Johnson Jr., 76, of Millinocket, passed away peacefully on his birthday September 23, 2023, at Katahdin Healthcare Nursing Home in Millinocket.
Born in Millinocket in 1947, Frank graduated from Stearns High School in 1965. He started the Northern Knights Drum and Bugle Corp along with friends Davis Morrison and Tommy Glidden while serving as coordinator and business manager. After high school, Frank helped in his community serving as a recreation director before becoming an electrician for Great Northern Paper Company. Frank was an active member of the local IBEW union and would serve as President of the local chapter during the 1970 and 80s. Frank would retire in 2009 from the mill after having worked for 45 years.
Frank was always quick to offer a genuine smile and a kind word to anyone he met. He was a hardworking man and would often spend countless hours working on various house projects and tinkering on small hobbies. Frank didn't take himself too seriously and was willing to play any role needed, even playing the role of Santa Claus surprising his sons, nieces, and nephews in town during the Christmas season. He loved his wife's homemade cooking, large holiday turkey dinners, the family's secret cheese, and Clara's split pea soup. Frank also enjoyed attending his sons' athletic events and volunteering at Stearns High School football games working concessions. He enjoyed riding and walking around town with his sidekick, Sprite. Frank also enjoyed watching the New England Patriots, family get-togethers as well as game nights with his family. One of his favorites was playing cribbage - it doesn't matter what the score is, you play to win! He treasured time spent traveling to D.C., FL, GA, MA, NY, NV, and WI as well as time spent around the family pool.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, Leslie F. Johnson Sr. and Corrine Marie Angotti; his younger siblings, Lori Jean Cates and Bruce Wayne Johnson; and a grandson, Tyler Brian Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Mae (McCluskey) Johnson; son, Matthew and wife, Chrystal, grandchildren, Kendra and Camden; son, Brian and wife, Jane, grandchild, Jaci; sisters-in-law, Clara Albert and Sharon Jandreau; in addition to many cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.
