Grindstone Township and Greenwood Lake, New York – Lauriann E. Griffiths, 57, died Tuesday, March 24, 2020 in Millinocket hospital. She was born October 20, 1962 in Wayne, New Jersey, the daughter of Robert E. and Patricia A. (Herring) Griffiths.
Lauriann loved life, and enjoyed meeting people, caring for and watching wild animals, and being in nature. A lifelong dream of hers was accomplished in March of 2018 when she was able to move to Maine. Lauriann was a loving person. She did extensive work for several years while living in New York at Strengthen Our Sisters, a battered women’s shelter, where she was an advocate and led many efforts for that cause. For many years, also in New York, she drove a taxi, a job she truly enjoyed and had many stories of different interactions with passengers. She will be missed dearly by her family and those who loved her.
Lauriann is survived by her domestic partner of over 30 years, Emery Smith; two daughters, Nina M. Griffiths and Monica L. Griffiths; a foster daughter, Dymonique Keyes; a sister, Allyson Abramson; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be private. Lauriann loved nature and wildlife, and it was her hope to be reincarnated as a gorilla, and we hope she gets her wish!
Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home.
