Obituary for Laura Valley

Millinocket – Laura (Gallupe) Valley, age 92, died at home with her family by her side on March
27, 2023. She was born on February 21, 1931 in Mars Hill, Maine, the daughter of Bernard and
Lena (Cullins) Gallupe
Laura, a “county girl” through and through: strong work ethic, proud heritage, immeasurable love
for God and family, and potatoes at every meal. She was known for her Sunday roast beef dinner,
and baked desserts, which she enjoyed sharing with family and friends. While she occasionally
worked outside the home, her greatest accomplishment was her role as wife to Duane, and mother
to her 6 children. She rejoiced at every milestone, from a child learning to tie their shoes to
successful careers and families. She especially loved her role as grandmother, with each grandchild
and great grandchild holding a special place in her heart. Laura enjoyed bowling, gardening, and
entertaining in her home.
Laura will be greatly missed by her sons, Kent, Stephen, Stanley (Linda), Gerard (Patty), Kevin
(Cindi), and daughter, Cheryl Poulopoulos (Andrew), 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Along with her husband, Duane, greeting Laura in heaven will be her grandchildren, Brandi
Poulopoulos, and Brian Valley, and daughter-in-law, Debbie. She is survived by her sister Sylvia
Churchill, brother Larry Gallupe, devoted friend, Marion Boss, and several nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
Laura’s family would like to thank Beacon Hospice for their loving care and attention during
Laura’s last days.
Memorial service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, May 20, at the Calvary Temple Assembly of
God, 2 Orchard Street, East Millinocket. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the hour
preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Laura may be sent to Epilepsy
