Obituary for Larry L. Malone

Larry L. Malone
Bangor and Danforth – Larry L. Malone, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2020 with his family by his side. He was born February 18, 1936 in Danforth, the son of Eugene and Phyllis (Wood) Malone.

Larry grew up in Danforth, and was a graduate of Danforth High School, class of 1954. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, joining the 82nd Airborne Division. He spent 18 months with the 11th Airborne Division in Augsburg, Germany. While there, he spent time with the special forces. When his service time was completed, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service in New Haven, Connecticut and Hingham, Massachusetts. Upon moving back to Maine he became employed with United Parcel Service.

Larry was a member of the American Legion Post #42 in Danforth, a 50 year member of Old Colony Lodge A.F. & A.M., and a member of the Anah Shrine 32nd Degree. He was a volunteer for a special group of friends at the Northern Light Rehabilitation for the past 7 years obtaining nearly 3,000 hours of service. Larry spent many happy hours hunting and fishing with his special friends.

Larry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Irene (Young) Malone, a son, Larry Malone, II and his wife Gail; a daughter Lori Irish and her husband Kempton; five grandchildren, Matthew and Amy Malone, Mallory and Isaac Young, and Kollin Irish; four great grandchildren, Jackson, Brooks, Shea, and Olivia; an uncle, Keith Wood and his wife Ione; and several cousins. Larry was predeceased by his parents.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be held in the springtime at Hilltop Cemetery in Danforth. Gifts in memory of Larry may be sent to the Maine Rehab Outpatient Clinic, C/O Northern Light Health Foundation, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402-0931. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Bartlett Chapel, Danforth.
