Millinocket – Judith A. Moody (Burleigh), 80, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven to be with our Lord on Sunday, August 21, 2022 with loved ones by her side. She was born January 15, 1942, in Millinocket, the daughter of Henry Burleigh and Alice Caswell (Pelkey).
She grew up in Millinocket and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1960. She was active in her community her whole life which created her tremendous extended family. She was a regular at sporting events, plays & concerts at the schools. Her primary focus later in life was to dote on, worry about, and unconditionally love her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all.
Judy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bert Moody; three sons, Keith Moody and his wife Tammy, Stephen Moody and his wife Jessica, and Brian Moody and his husband Bradley Riley; three sisters Audrey Hartley, Betty Lou Hawkes, and Donna Pelkey; and nine grandchildren, Aaron, Craig, Alexis, Isabelle, Stephen Jr., Kalob, Annie, Hannah, and Sophie.
In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her special grandparents who raised her, Joseph & Lottie Pelkey and grandparents Edmund & Vera Burleigh; stepfather Leslie Caswell; two sisters Linda Deveau and Norma Jean Larson; and her special great-uncle “Freddy” Pelkey (Papa to the boys).
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Millinocket Regional Hospital and Katahdin Health Care for the excellent care given to Judy throughout her illness.
Visiting hour will start at 12 PM and funeral services will begin at 1 PM Saturday, September 3, at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery and then immediately following the committal service a gathering will take place at the American Legion Hall.
