Obituary for Joyce E. Ouellette (McKinnon)

Joyce E. Ouellette (McKinnon)
Millinocket - Joyce E. Ouellette 82, passed away peacefully on July 20th, 2018 after losing her battle with Advanced Sarcoidosis. She was a kind, giving, loving, and devoted Mother, Nana, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many, and was always concerned about others even in her final days. She was born in Millinocket Sept. 16th, 1935, the beloved daughter of Manning and Helen (Pasquine) Mckinnon. She was a graduate of Saint Martin of Tours High School and went on to marry the love of her life, Louie, in 1956, raising 5 adoring children. Joyce was a faithful communicant of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish where she was also a member of the choir until illness prevented her from attending. She worked countless hours cooking and volunteering for church, benefits and other services. She enjoyed Scripture sharing with her church family and friends and also volunteered at the gift store. She was a hospice volunteer where she compassionately helped care for the sick. Giving came easy to Joyce and she was always giving of her time and talents to many, especially to those less fortunate. Sewing was one of her many passions and due to her selflessness, she made many healing rice bags for countless people, AKA “Nana Bags”. She loved to dance with her Honey and it was often 'all eyes on the dance floor' watching them Jitterbug. She had enjoyed several years of golf and skiing but her greatest joy was being surrounded by her loving family and friends, cooking large delicious meals and making holidays extra special. She will always known as the best gnocchi maker to her family. She looked forward to her Friday lunches with her dear friends and enjoyed outings and rides with family and special brother Richard. Her kind and caring nature and love and devotion for her family and friends will never be forgotten. She spent the majority of her life caring and worrying more about others rather than herself.
Joyce is survived and will be greatly missed by her adoring children Karen Ouellette of Millinocket, Sheila and husband Rob Mackenzie of Millinocket, Mary Ouellette and other daughter Joan Fisher of Millinocket, Louie Ouellette and wife Brenda of Pensacola Florida, and Lisa Ouellette of Millinocket; 6 grandchildren Kristina Wheaton and Husband Brad, Michael Mackenzie and wife Georgia, Daniel Mackenzie, Travis, Brittany and Brandon Ouellette; great grandchildren Brady and Riley Wheaton; sisters Elizabeth Tompkins of Connecticut and Patricia Sanford of Virginia; brother Richard Mckinnon and wife Patricia of East Millinocket, as well as many nieces and nephews, all who she loved very much.
She was predeceased by the love of her life Louie in 1999, her beloved grandparents, Francis Samuel and Bambina (Mascetta) Pasquine, her parents and in-laws, infant brother Thomas, brothers in law, Roy and Ralph, sisters in law Evelyn and Fran, nephew Steve and nieces Denise and Kimberly, along with several special relatives.
The family would like to extend a huge Thank You to Millinocket Regional Hospital for their excellent care and compassion during our Mom's stay. We will be forever grateful.
Honoring Mom's wishes, there will be no visiting hours. Being a Devout Catholic Joyce requested a Mass of Christian Burial be held at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church,19 Colby Street, Millinocket on Friday July 27th at 10 AM, with the Rev. Bruce Siket, pastor, presider. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery, after which the family invites those attending to join them at the parish hall for conversation and refreshments.
