Obituary for Joseph Gilbert Solomon
Passadumkeag – Joseph Gilbert Solomon, 55, passed from this life on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at his home in Passadumkeag.
He was born in Lincoln on May 10, 1967 to Elaine McLaughlin West and Gilbert Solomon. He leaves behind his pride and joy, his family: his wife, Jennifer (Sutherland) Solomon, his sons, Clayton and Nathan, and his daughter, Nicole. He is also survived by his in-laws, John (Chuck) Sutherland, Sr. and Loralei (King) Sutherland, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe was a proud member of the Penobscot Nation and highly valued his Native American heritage.
Joe was raised in Lincoln where he attended school and graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1985. Following school, he worked various jobs until he landed a position at Richards Sports Shop where he has worked for thirty-one years. Recently, Joe opened his own business, Dunky Sports Shop, which was growing fast and of which he was very proud.
Joe was known for his great sense of humor and his teasing ways. He was famous for his posts on Facebook where he constantly commented on the weather. He loved snow and didn’t like the heat. He was well known for his “snow dance” and threatened to begin it when the weather got too hot. Joe will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
