Obituary for Joseph Plotegher
Danforth – Jospeh Plotegher, 86, died Monday, February 4, 2019 at his home in Danforth. He was born January 31, 1933 in Verona, Italy, the son of Everisto and Maria (Murzi) Plotegher.
Joseph immigrated to the United States in the early 1950’s, arriving with his sister on a banana boat, on which he shoveled coal to pay for his sister’s fare. He had a strong work ethic and applied it in his pursuit of the American Dream, which he was very proud to have attained. Joseph worked for many years in road construction, and retired to Danforth as a farmer in the late 1980’s. He was very proud of his heritage, his family, and his farm. Joseph was a member of the Danforth Grange, and was honored as Granger of the Year in 1996. He was also a past member of the Knights of Columbus and the Laborer’s Union.
He is survived by his sister, Bianca Perotti and her husband Paul of Quincy, Massachusetts; daughter, Cindy Johnson and her husband Laurie of Walpole, MA; a daughter in law, Sissy Plotegher; grandsons Joseph and Anthony; two granddaughters, Jessica and Michele; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his wife Patricia (Bonner) Plotegher, a son, Joseph Plotegher, and a sister, Maria Tenero and her husband Bruno.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 10 A.M. – 12 P.M. Saturday, February 9 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Road, Danforth, where funeral services will be held 12 P.M. Spring interment will be at the Danforth Cemetery.
